Faux Bois Woodgrain
Born in Brooklyn, Sean Crosby has had a 40-year career in Decorative Painting and Teaching the Decorative Arts.
As a youth, Sean spent many formative hours on his artistic passion; learning all the skills! He took Illustration courses at Parsons’ School and the School of Visual Art, he also studied Watercolor.
In 1996, he taught the first of many classes at the Finishing School (NYC) including Murals, Woodgraining, and Marbling using the water-based techniques he was using in his flourishing Professional career.
Because of his talent, charm, wit, and enthusiasm, his teaching career also expanded world wide, including the IPEDEC in Paris, many decorative painting Trade shows, and expositions, also teaching extensively in Europe, China, and the US.
A Member of the International Salon of Decorative Painters since 2001, Sean partnered with Pierre Finkelstein in 2001 to create the Decorative Painting program for the IUPAT instructors which focuses on Woodgraining and Marbling. After joining USA 829 in 2020 Sean has been instructing the apprentices and general membership, when he’s not having fun slinging some paint in the Movies!!!
At present he works primarily on high end residential commissions for his friend Pierre Finkelstein and his company Grand Illusion.
